about

Many people see the divine in science and in nature (“I think I saw God fall through the air, in the guise of a snow landing in my hair.”) The chorus notes that most people look up when thinking about things greater than them. (“There’s a rumor going ‘round that heaven’s in the sky. Might be some truth…where there’s smoke there’s fire.”) A cool ending that evokes the sound of satellites in space.

lyrics

I Think I Saw God by Sharon Coates

I think I saw God
through a telescope
With an eye made by man
think I saw hope
I think I saw life
floating out in space
Made me feel calm
made me feel safe

There’s a rumor goin’ ‘round
that heaven’s in the sky
Might be some truth
where there’s smoke there’s fire

I think I saw God
fall through the air
In the guise of a snow
landing in my hair
Who else has the time
to make so much art
No two are the same
- since the very start

There’s a rumor goin’ ‘round
that heaven’s in the sky
Might be some truth
where there’s smoke there’s fire

I think I saw God
from the window of a plane
In a gorgeous cloud
that sent down some rain
But when we got above
there was the sun
Makin’ stuff like that
- sounds like some fun

There’s a rumor goin’ ‘round
that heaven’s in the sky
There’s a rumor goin’ ‘round
that heaven’s in the sky
There’s a rumor goin’ ‘round
There’s a rumor
